October 1st, 2020: Connections has three available positions:

FINANCIAL COACH: The Financial Coach will work along side and in a collaborative way within the Financial Coaching team, providing direct support to families/individuals, and resources to Connections’ In-Home team members, to improve families’ stability. 

Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one financial coaching that is strengths-based and responsive to individuals’ learning styles and prevailing life circumstances. A significant part of the role includes liaison and applicatiions with Canada Revenue Agency (Disability Tax Credit, RDSP, etc.) and other provincial government programs. Leading financial education workshops for parents and teens and creating financial resources for families are a part of the role. The successful person also must adhere to Connections’ policies and practice standards, including a current police and child welfare check, and fulfill all reporting requirements.

Qualifications: A post-secondary degree in disability, social work, counselling or adult education fields, or equivalent experience is required. Financial literacy basics are required and a background in financial coaching or advising is ideal. 
Compensation: $26 per hour pay with flexibility for 24 to 30 hours per week and the ability to work some hours from home. Connections provides health benefits, mileage and cell phone cost allowance.

TEACHER/EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT: On-line programming provided part-time to tutor individual and small groups of children, and occasionally for parents/young adults. Our families have had particular challenges with the long shutdown of schools and an inability to support their children with on-line learning. We want to close that gap. There’s lots of flexibility in this role and support from the team of social workers and financial coaches. Salary is negotiable, starting at $23 per hour with benefits, and dependent on the role, hours, and expertise/experience.

IN-HOME FAMILY SUPPORT: We’re always on the look-out to add to our social worker team of disability and/or parenting specialists. We have an outstanding, varied team who have terrific camaraderie and love developing long-term family relationships. The supports are provided in the community, in families’ homes, and on-line. The role is strengths-based, meeting parents where they are and supportinig them to meet their goals which include maintaining a safe and nurturing home for their children. Families are varied and often complex and benefit from a range of supports provided in a non-judgmental way, including parenting skills education, accessing resources in the community, and being supported to liaise with health, education, and other government systems. 

The role can be permanent part-time (24 hours per week) or full-time and requires a car in good working order and police/child welfare checks. Benefits include health and wellness, mileage, cell phone allowance with salary ranging from $23 to $27 per hour.
